Part 2/3
Other Design notes of merit:
The Brethe has several blue LED lights on the bottom of the top section. Most people seemed to like the LED lights on during operation, but for me I could take them or leave them. Nice thing is that the Brethe can be operated with the LED lights on or off by tapping the top switch one or twice. The LED lights make the Brethe a great nightlight…..
Overall the fan is pretty quiet, but not silent. Most of the sound appears to be from the water spray inside the unit and airflow going in and out of the top of the unit. The fan motor itself is rather quiet however.
We give the Brethe unit a few points off for a couple of minor design details. The major one is after several days of operation, you will find that you may need to take off the spinning impeller that bring up the water from the bowl. Although this ‘tube’ can be removed for cleaning; it is not the easiest thing to remove. We would have liked to have seen this removal made a bit more user friendly.
On the Brethe Solutions:
Homedics reports that they are made with 100% botanical extracts, which in our experience are the best to use. In Asia it was possible to purchase ‘knock-off’ Air Revitalizer solutions that were not 100% Botanical, and we soon realized they were not worth the savings, quality or concerns for our health.
Great to see that Homedics went with these types of solutions as opposed to something more synthetically based!
Our unit came with 4 different Solutions scents packaged in 60 ml bottles. The four scents included Calming Lavender, Refreshing Citrus, Energizing Lime and Soothing Vanilla.
Homedics reports that the solutions will disinfect the unit’s bowl water for 24 hours, which is something that we couldn’t test, so we will take their word on this. We can tell you that we found that once a fresh bowl is started, the scents will last for about a 5-6 hour period. We were overall pleased with the selection of scents and I found myself a bit more partial to the Citrus and Lime scents. We hope that other scents will be introduced in the future.
